Vienna Philharmonic Gold Coin
Minted in Vienna at the historic Austrian Mint, which has produced exceptional gold coins for more than 800 years, the Philharmonic is one of the most gorgeous and desirable of all modern gold bullion coins. The world's best selling Gold coin in 1992, 1995, 1996, the Philharmonic is struck in 999.9 fine gold.
Design
This impressive coin honors the internationally renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna's Musikverein adorns the obverse side of the coin, while a harmonious design of musical instruments from the Orchestra graces the reverse. The weight, fineness and year of issue appear on the obverse.
Face value is indicated in Austrian Schillings in mintings prior to December 31, 2001 and in Euros afterwards. It is also to our knowledge the only gold coin to ever have been featured on the side of an airplane, an Austrian Airlines Airbus A340.
